Connecticut AFL-CIO Endorsement Process

Candidates are invited to seek the endorsement of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, a federation of hundreds of local unions representing over 200,000 active union members in the private sector, public sector, and building trades. Our members live and work in every city and town in our state and reflect the diversity that makes Connecticut great.

Our process is simple:

  • To be considered for endorsement, you must first fill out our questionnaire. Please contact Political Director Joelyn Leon at jleon@ctaflcio.org for the link.
  • Depending on your responses on the questionnaire and the feasibility of your campaign, you may be invited to be interviewed.
  • Finally, the Connecticut AFL-CIO will vote on any possible endorsement. We require 2/3 majority vote to endorse.

Please complete the questionnaire as soon as possible so that you may be considered for an interview before our Political Convention to be held June 23rd and 24th where endorsements will be voted on.

AFT Connecticut

Our AFT Connecticut* endorsement process has started for the 2022 election season. We are looking for candidates who are concerned with the long-term well-being of our state and towns, rather than the short-term interests of individuals or political parties. While there are many issues of great importance to AFT Connecticut members, we have chosen in our endorsement questionnaire those issues we hope will both give you the broadest view of our concerns as well as help us to get to know you.

The first step in our endorsement process is for candidates to fill out the link to the AFT Connecticut’s 2022 General Assembly Questionnaire. This questionnaire will help to assist us in selecting candidates to endorse in the municipal elections. We encourage you to fully explain your views and concerns. After we receive the questionnaire back, we will review the questionnaire and then contact you to either to schedule an interview or contact you to get more information.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of us below for more information. Thank you and we look forward to working with you.
