Rally & Lobby Day for Puerto Rican Families
Join the CT Puerto Rican Agenda, Make the Road CT, and our allies and supporters for a day of mobilization to support Puerto Rican families. There are thousands of new families displaced by Hurricane Maria coming to Connecticut towns and cities that are themselves strained to address decades of economic neglect.
The safety and well-being of hurricane victims should not be used to score political points between our state and federal governments. Our families should not be ignored and abandoned by our elected officials who ignore the needs of thousands who continue to flee the island in the hopes of finding relief. It is long overdue that we come together and show the power our community’s ability to show up in numbers and pressure our elected officials to act.
We will spend the morning reaching out to our state elected officials to educate them on the needs of our community, and why there is an urgent need for a comprehensive state support package passed in this session.
