IBEW Local 420 Donates Over $30,000 to CT Children’s Medical Center
HARTFORD – The members of IBEW Local 420 made a significant donation of $31,000 to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center earlier this month.
Connecticut Children's Medical Center is a nationally ranked, independent, non-profit, pediatric hospital located in Hartford. They are the only health system in Connecticut completely dedicated to kids.
The health system has over 40 locations throughout Connecticut, Eastern New York and Western Massachusetts.
"We are proud to be able to support such an important institution in our community," said Joe Malcarne, Business Manager of IBEW Local 420. "By donating over $30,000 to the Children’s Medical Center, we are investing in the health and well-being of the kids who need it the most. Together, we can ensure that every child has access to the care they need to thrive. It’s a great time and what’s most important is all the proceeds go to sick children in Connecticut."
The funds will be used to keep children safer and healthier, support academic medical research, and ensure the availability of innovative and lifesaving treatments for children in Connecticut.
Every year, the local union organizes a golf tournament and raffle to raise money for the medical center. This year’s tournament was held on July 12, 2024, at the Pequabuck Golf Club in Bristol.
Local 420 has been donating to the Children’s Medical Center for 18 years and has now donated a total of over $338,000.
Headquartered in Waterbury, IBEW Local 420 represents over 700 electric, gas, and water utility workers at Eversource, Yankee Gas, South Norwalk Electric and Water, NRG Energy, Preferred Utilities, Amphenol RF, and First Light.
