Workers at Foxwoods to Testify About Coercive, Anti-Union Captive Audience Meetings

On Wednesday, March 14, at approximately 11:00 a.m. in LOB Room 2D, seven workers at Foxwoods will testify about the coercive, anti-union captive audience meetings they are being forced to attend for attempting to form a union. Captive audience meetings have a chilling effect on workers’ rights to organize together in union.

Workers will testify about significant cuts in benefits, negligible raises, and a sharp increase in workload, as well as having to work with equipment that is regularly damaged. Over 70% of the workers in the Environmental Services Department at Foxwoods have signed cards indicating their support to join together in union.

They are asking legislators to support House Bill 5473: An Act Concerning Captive Audience Meetings, which would stop worker intimidation by prohibiting the use of captive audience meetings.

Connecticut AFL-CIO President Lori Pelletier will testify immediately after the workers from Foxwoods in support of HB 5473.
