While 1 in 4 residents in New Haven live in poverty, Yale is sitting on over $44 billion – making them the second wealthiest university in the nation.
Join the fight for a city we can all afford while building hopeful lives that are full of dignity and free from fear.
On Feb. 24, UNITE HERE and New Haven Rising are organizing a Solidarity Summit to demand change and urge Yale to contribute $110 million annually that they owe the city.

Here in New Haven, too many families are being squeezed out of our neighborhoods and homes due to rising costs of rent, public services are being cut back due constraints on funding, and our students and teachers are standing up to fight for the world class education they deserve from crumbling, mold-filled buildings.
While the struggles of working-class families deepen, our city experiences a boom in development alongside the growth of Yale University, with the endowment earning $4.5 billion in investment returns for 2025 alone.
