Ed Hawthorne and Shellye Davis, President and Secretary-Treasurer of the Connecticut AFL-CIO, respectively, made the following statement in response to news of the passing of former Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman:

The Connecticut labor movement mourns the passing of former Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman, a champion for working people throughout her more than three decades of public service.

From her years as a state representative and State Comptroller to her service as our Lieutenant Governor, Nancy understood the dignity of work and the importance of standing with working people. Her leadership, compassion, and deep commitment to public service have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless people across our great state.

We extend our condolences to Nancy’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. Connecticut is a better place because of her service, and the labor movement will remember Nancy as steadfast ally of working people and a dedicated public servant who left an indelible mark on our state.
