MASHANTUCKET – Nearly 300 delegates from 98 local affiliate unions unanimously elected President Ed Hawthorne (AFSCME) and Secretary-Treasurer Shellye Davis (AFT) to their second terms in office at the Connecticut AFL-CIO's Sixteenth Biennial Constitutional Convention. Their two-day convention was held at Foxwoods where over a third of the workforce is represented by five different unions.
Additionally, the convention re-elected Keri Hoehne (UFCW) as First Vice President. Daniel McInerney (Fairfield County Building Trades Council) was elected as General Vice President and Colena Sesanker (SEIU) was elected as Executive Secretary.
Ally Sexton (AFT), Mark Espinosa (UFCW), and John Stroud (AFSCME) were elected to serve as trustees.
All executive officers and trustees serve four-year terms. Officers, trustees, and executive board members were sworn-in immediately prior to the adjournment of the convention. Additional board members will be elected at the state federation’s executive board meeting in December.
