Statement on Trump Administration's Stop Work Order of Revolution Wind

Joint Statement of Rhode Island AFL-CIO President Patrick Crowley and Connecticut AFL-CIO President Ed Hawthorne on the Trump Administration’s Stop Work Order of Revolution Wind
"If it stands, the administration’s stop work order on the Revolution Wind project will eliminate local jobs and threaten economic stability and our regional energy infrastructure. This project is 80% complete, has already created over 1,000 union jobs and 2 million hours of union work, and was fully permitted under federal and state law. Halting it now leaves hundreds of workers unemployed and thousands more at risk.
For construction workers, project certainty means paychecks, health care, and the ability to provide for their families. The real-world consequences of this stop work order are lost jobs, missed mortgage payments, and broken promises.
Revolution Wind is designed to power 350,000 homes across Rhode Island and Connecticut, delivering 704 megawatts of electricity to our regional utility grid with a 20-year power purchase agreement that stabilizes energy reliability and affordability. Billions of dollars in local investment have already strengthened our ports, shipyards, and local supply chain. This stoppage undermines energy security for New England families, raises energy prices, and denies economic opportunities for years to come.
We call on the Trump Administration to reverse this order immediately and let union workers finish the job of building America’s energy infrastructure."
